How do you blend in your makeup to look natural even up close?

I love my makeup and all, but when you're less than a foot away, you can really see it sitting on top of my skin, but far away it looks natural and perfect. Is makeup supposed to look like this, or am I not putting it on correctly. How do you blend in your makeup to look natural even up close?
I blend with a sponge like CRAZY!

Don't apply too much powder.

Invest in MAC Fix +, it takes away the cakey powdery look.

Mix some moisterizer and foundation so it goes on less cakey.

A foundation primer will create a barrier on your face, fill in pores and lines. I use Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer or you can use Sally Hansen's Luminzing Face Primer. How do you blend in your makeup to look natural even up close?
You shouldn't be able to see it sitting on your skin. A sponge works well for blending, as does a base brush (you can buy them at any pharmacy or if you want a really good one, I'd get one from Sephora). Make sure your skin is well hydrated before you apply, and make sure to blend the foundation down your neck and up the lobes of your ears so there is no demarcation. If you're still 'noticing' the make up, try purchasing a primer like Smashbox's Photo Finish primer (my personal favorite) - though it's pricey at around $40 dollars. A cheaper version is Sephora's Professional Perfection Makeup Base ($12). Primer goes underneath your base and evens and smooths the skin, prepping it for your application of foundation.
you can try adding a little lotion to it so it blends into your skin more.

I use a cheap wet n wild tinted moisturizer with spf...i swear by it b/c it blends so even!!! try it out, for $5 you can't go wrong!

i dk how old u are but id get covergirl advanced radiance aage defying make up and apply it with cosmetic sponge it goes on flawless but if u get acne i wouldnt get it made mine so bad but i still use it because it covers it up and i feel pretty in it then put on a powder it will look amzing.
well, with foundation, you just rub it across your face.

i think you may be talking about face powder, with that you just have to smooth it down really well with either a sponge or your fingers
